The Homeowners approached us in early 2014 to fix their problems (squirrels in the attic chewing up beams, wasted space, tremendous heat loss) and to design and build this dream space that Carolyn had imagined for years. Then it became real! The architect used ingenious placement of operable skylights to allow for headroom in critical areas – one at the top of the stairs and one in front of the toilet. There was no need to heat the area in winter thanks to passive heat from the sun and heat coming from the lower floors. The roof was insulated using closed cell foam to add structural and thermal properties that has made this a rock solid investment in their property and their lifestyle.
